College History

Alexander College has a long-standing history of educational excellence which was established in 1991. The institute, which was its initial status, provided a well-grounded foundation covering core disciplines and practical vocation, enabling students to prepare for employment in the design and print industry at that time.

Over the years, our development progressed considerably regarding the Island’s social and political shifts, the advancement in technology, the growth in overseas trade and employability. Another factor which was important was the increase in local school graduates leaving Cyprus to study abroad as under-graduate design courses were not available. This was our key focus that opened several doorways to opportunity and vision. We had researched in depth and contacted the college alumni for feedback, opinions and experiences and also professional design establishments for their input and preferences concerning employment.

Since then we have been in collaboration with various British awarding bodies and UK universities offering BA and MA courses in Design, Business and Law. We have equipped artists, designers and business professionals with specialist skills which are valued by employers and equally valuable for a graduate wishing to start their own business. Our success rate regarding employability has been outstanding, and the graduating year of 2011 celebrated six students graduating with a First Class Honours. Many of our students have won prestigious competitions and awards exhibited in major Cyprus and international galleries; and have published their work in many journals and magazines.

Our main objective has always been to provide educational opportunities, a learning environment that is challenging yet supportive of the student’s personal and educational needs and to maintain our high standards.
