General Admission Requirements

Alexander College welcomes applications from people of varied social, educational and cultural backgrounds who through their active participation in the Educational Process, will contribute to making Alexander College a dynamic place to learn. In general, all applicants must have completed a secondary (high) school education or the equivalent of twelve years of schooling or a BTEC National Diploma or equivalent to be considered for admission.

The criteria for admission to Alexander College have been prepared to enable the Office of Admissions to select students who have potential to produce college-level work and to place students in courses and programmes appropriate to the student's preparation, in an effort to help them successfully realise their academic potential.

Final admission decisions are completed in September - October for the Fall Semester and in January - February for the Spring Semester. The Office of Admissions may give permission for late application to some local students. Due to visa requirements, it might be very difficult to do the same with international students.

 
Undergraduate Admission Requirements

All applicants must have completed a secondary (high) school education or twelve years of schooling to be considered for admission. Alexander College recognises a strong academic performance at high school level as the primary determinant for college level success. When making an admissions decision, the College is interested in applicants with a solid high school record, evidence of extra-curricular involvement, a high level of commitment and potential for personal growth.

Applications for admission to Alexander College, together with the applicant's credentials, are examined and evaluated by the Office of Admissions, which makes the final decision for the application.

Any person who intends to register for a programme/course at Alexander College must first be admitted to the College. Application forms and the most current information about admission requirements can be obtained from the Office of Admissions. All application materials and supporting documents should be sent to:

Admissions Procedure and Criteria

Applications for admission to Alexander College together with the applicant's credentials are examined and evaluated by the Academic Committee which makes the final decision for the application.

1. A completed application form. The application form may be obtained either in person from the Office of Admissions or by writing to the Director of Admissions, Alexander College, P.O.Box 45081, Aradippou, Larnaca, Cyprus. A non-refundable fee must accompany every application.
2. Official transcripts of secondary (high) school record. The applicant must submit an official transcript of his secondary school record together with the application. For candidates applying for admission with advanced standing, an official transcript of their previous college record is required.
3. Evidence of knowledge of English; English is the language of instruction at Alexander College. Those candidates whosenative language is not English will be required to take the English Placement Test. Candidates who have already scored at least 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or hold a passing grade of C or higher on the G.C.E.O Level in English will be exempted from the English Placement Test.

 
Transfer Students

Students who have started their studies elsewhere and wish to apply for admission to Alexander College as transfer students must submit the following items to the Office of Admissions:

1. A completed application form together with a non-refundable fee of €150.00
2. Official transcripts of all academic records from each institution previously attended,
including high school, college or university.
3. Official course descriptions or syllabi in English for all graduate course work completed at an accredited college or university previously attended.
4. An official transfer credit evaluation will only be administered if all of the above items have been submitted to the Office of Admissions.

Non-EU Student Application Guide

Stage 1: Application Method
After completing an application form you will also need to submit by post or scan and email, the following;

a) A photocopy of your passport which includes all information such as name, date of birth, passport number passport issue date and expiry date. The passport must be valid for at least 2 years from the date of your application.
b) Your secondary and higher secondary school certificates and grades or the High
School Leaving Certificate and Grades. Both translated in to English and also
attested.
c) A medical report stating that you are free from any illnesses, especially HIV,
Hepatitis I, II and syphilis.
d) A chest X-Ray report.
e) Police clearance certificate that will state that you are clear from any criminal
convictions.
f) An application fee of €150 ( this fee is not refundable and it is not included in the
tuition fees)
g) A bank certificate which will state your sponsors' name, your relationship with the
sponsor (is the sponsor your mother, father, uncle etc.) and the certificate should also
state that the sponsor is able and willing to support your studies and expenses
abroad.
h) 5 passport size photographs

Stage 2: Processing the Documents
After the college receives your documents and application fee, your application will be processed, if successful, it will be sent to the Migration Authorities for approval.
When the migration authorities have examined and approved the documents then the visas will be issued. In cases where Cyprus has an embassy in your country, students will be required to attend the embassy for a visa interview. In cases where Cyprus does not have an embassy in your country, then the visa will be issued in Cyprus.

Stage 3: Payment Procedure
€150 application fee must be sent together with the application form. Applications that do not have the application fee, will not be processed.

After the documents have been approved by the Migration authorities students will have to transfer the full amount of € 3200.
Note: the above sum of € 3200 is irrelevant to the tuition fees. This amount is fixed by the migration authorities.

Stage 4: Arriving in Cyprus
When the student receives a visa a fixed date of when to arrive in Cyprus will also be stated.

In case where the visa is issued in embassy, students must hold the following upon arrival:

a) All educational certificates with the stamp of the embassy on them
b) The original police clearance letter together with the stamp of the embassy
c) Minimum €1600 cash in hand
d) The original bank solvency letter together with the stamp of the embassy
e) College registration letter
f) Bank transfer receipt and the college receipt

Please note the above documents are all very important and must be brought to Cyprus.

In cases where the visa is issued in Cyprus, students must hold the following upon arrival:

a) Copy of all educational certificates
b) Copy of original police clearance letter
c) Copy of the original bank solvency letter
d) Minimum € 1600 cash in hand
e) College registration letter
f) Bank transfer receipt and the college receipt
g) Copy of the visa sent by the college

Note: Failure to have the above documents on arrival could lead to deportation

Stage 5: Applying for a Temporary Residence Permit

After you have arrived and registered you will be required to apply for your student residence permit. You will be guided by college officials on the process. All of the above points in stage 4 are required for this application.

Upon registration you will be required to undertake the following expenses

a) € 175 Medical Insurance
b) € 35 Alien Book Fee (Paid to Immigration)
c) € 35 Immigration Registration fee (Paid to Immigration)
d) € 50 Medical Examinations
e) € 500 Immigration Deposit, this is kept by college for the student (refunded back
when student returns back to his/her country of origin)
