Dr. Anthony Chabarekh (Assoc. P.)

Dr. Anthony Chabarekh is the Academic Director of Alexander College, overseeing academic strategy, programme development, and quality assurance across disciplines. He holds a PhD in Visual & Performing Arts, Film Studies, and has over 15 years of leadership experience in higher education, including Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Arts & Humanities at AUL University. His teaching portfolio spans film theory, scriptwriting, photography, and new media. As a filmmaker and media consultant, he has led award-winning creative projects across the MENA region. His research focuses on visual communication, media ethics, creative education, and the intersection of technology with art and storytelling.

Marshall Hughes (Assoc. P.)

Marshall Hughes after a successful career in secondary education, including a headship of United World College Thailand, (one of only 17 such schools in the world), has led Alexander College BDES in its first years of establishment. An enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very experienced international teacher, manager, leader and lecturer, having worked at middle and senior management in a variety of schools and colleges in the UK, Hong Kong, Bahrain, Thailand and Cyprus. A highly successful track record of teaching at GCSE/IGCSE/AS/A level, International Baccalaureate Diploma program, Masters level university lecturing, and school leadership. Dr.Hughes also has an extensive range of publications and received a prestigious international award for Subject Leadership at the Royal Society in London.

Dora Anastasiou (Lecturer)

Dora Anastasiou is the acting Dean of the Arts and Design Sector at Alexander College. She holds a BA in Interior Design, an MA in Design Innovation from De Montfort University (UK), and an MBA in Education Leadership and Management from Canterbury Christ Church University (UK). With over 15 years of experience, particularly in hospitality interiors, she has received international recognition, including a 2023 award for Hospitality Interior Design. Her research interests include inclusive design, design pedagogy, and the integration of innovation and technology in contemporary practice. She is committed to fostering student development through modern instructional approaches and interdisciplinary engagement.

Angeliki Athanasiadi (Lecturer)

Angeliki Athanasiadi is an award-winning visual communication designer specializing in Branding with a diverse portfolio of activities. She holds an MA (Hons) in Branding from Middlesex University, London, where she received a scholarship. She is the founder and creative director of Graphic Stories Cyprus, an initiative promoting visual communication through educational and cultural activities. Passionate about education, she is a Lecturer at the American University of Cyprus and Alexander College, and also teaches at the Strovolos Open School, working with both children and adults.As a certified Vocational Training Instructor by HRDA, she contributes significantly to lifelong learning.

As an Art Therapeutic Life Coach, she focuses on mental empowerment through art, combining creative expression with personal development. As a co-founding member of WIDA – World Industrial Design Association, she advocates for the integration of design, social responsibility, and innovation. Her book, «Graphic Stories – Γραφιστορίες», featuring theoretical articles and interviews with prominent creators, has been approved by the Ministry of Education of Cyprus and won a Gold Design Award at the Pygmalion Awards. Angeliki is the producer of the documentary “Graphic Stories: Destinat10n”, which follows the journey and challenges of Graphic Stories and has been screened at international festivals, including the 18th Greek Documentary Festival DocFest and the World Industrial Design Conference 2024 (WIDC), highlighting the power of creativity and social awareness.

Her work is exhibited at the Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, Yale University.

Kristo Avraam (Lecturer)

Kristo Avraam is a Master Tailor and Fashion Lecturer, known for his high-quality craftsmanship in menswear. He studied Fashion Design in Belgium and interned with leading designers such as Jean Paul Knott and Xavier Delcour. Since launching his eponymous label in Cyprus, he has showcased his work internationally and has received multiple ‘Tailor of the Year’ awards (2020–2022). Kristo’s teaching is informed by real-world fashion practices, with research interests in tailoring innovation, men’s fashion history, and the preservation of artisanal techniques in contemporary design.

Maria Pallecaros-Theoclitou (Assist. P.)

Maria Pallecaros-Theoclitou is the Course Leader for the BDes Graphic Design specialisation. She holds a Master’s Degree in Design and a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of the West of England, Bristol. With over 30 years of teaching experience and a background in commercial design in London and Cyprus, Maria specializes in print, branding, illustration, and digital design. Her current research explores the use of AI, smart materials, and emerging digital tools in creative practice. Maria continues to work as a practicing designer and actively participates in exhibitions and competitions both locally and internationally.

Michalis Pantelidis (Lecturer)

Michalis Pantelidis is a Lecturer in Fashion and Textiles, with a multidisciplinary practice that blends photography, heritage, and material innovation. He studied at the University of the West of England and completed an academic exchange at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Michalis has interned with high-profile designers including Iris Van Herpen and Ronald Van Der Kemp. His research explores sustainability in textiles, memory and place in design, and the intersection of digital and handcrafted techniques. He teaches research methodologies, conceptual development, and experimental textiles in fashion education.

Panayiotis Voulgaris (Assist. P.)

Panayiotis Voulgaris is Assistant Professor and former Course Leader for both the BA Graphic Design and MA Design programmes at Alexander College. He holds an H.N.D. in Design Communication from Dewsbury College, UK a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from the University of Derby, UK, a Postgraduate Diploma in Graphic Design from the University of Derby, an MA in European Media from the University of Portsmouth, and an MBA in Education Leadership and Management from Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU). Since 2002, he has taught a wide range of modules in design theory and practice. Beyond teaching, Panayiotis has contributed significantly to the cultural and academic design community. He has participated in three group exhibitions in graphic design and photography in Cyprus and has been a keynote speaker and co-organiser at several major conferences, including the “10 Minutes for Design” series in collaboration with Graphic Stories Cyprus (2019, 2021) and the 8th Graphic Stories Cyprus Conference on Visual Communication (2022). He also serves as an academic advisor for I Love Graphic – the Event, engaging in talks, conferences, and exhibitions that promote design practice and education.

His research interests lie at the intersection of graphic design, education, and emerging technologies. He is particularly engaged in exploring contemporary pedagogical approaches to design education, as well as investigating how new technologies and industry trends can inform and enhance both teaching and practice in graphic design.

Thalia Pontiki (Lecturer)

Thalia Pontiki is a visual artist and educator with over thirty years of experience in Fine Arts education and creative practice. She holds a BA in Fine Art from Middlesex Polytechnic and completed a Foundation Course from City & Guilds, where she also undertook art therapy practice with handicapped adults as part of her research into the healing power of art in therapy. Thalia is the founder and director of the Thalia Pontiki School of Arts & Creativity in Engomi (1991–present) and previously established the first Foundation Course of Art & Design in Cyprus (1994–2005), contributing significantly to the advancement of art and design education on the island. Her artistic work has been exhibited both locally and internationally, including Art Within Life (2024), In Between All That Life Entails (2023), Cosmos (2017), and Order in Chaos (2010), while she was also selected by Amnesty International to present a human-rightsfocused piece at the Louvre Museum in 1999. In addition to her fine arts practice, Thalia has expanded her knowledge through various diplomas in energetic healing, crystal healing, colour therapy, and new age therapies, integrating creative and holistic methodologies into her work. She continues to actively create, teach, and mentor, with an upcoming exhibition in 2026 featuring both her own new creations and the work of her students.

Stelios Stefanos Drousiotis (Lecturer)

Stelios Stefanos Drousiotis is an Interior Architect affiliated with both Alexander College and the University of Portsmouth. He holds a BA in Interior Design, an MA in Interior Architecture, and an MRes in Creative Industries. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Portsmouth, focusing on sustainable design in education and practice in Cyprus. His research explores ecological frameworks in interior design pedagogy and cross-cultural sustainability standards. Stelios teaches design theory, sustainable interiors, and applied practice in architecture and design education.

Tracy Leontiades (Lecturer)

Tracy Leontides is a Senior Fashion Lecturer with over 30 years of industry experience and a BA in Textiles and Fashion from Manchester Polytechnic. She has worked extensively in design, pattern cutting, bespoke tailoring, and production. Her teaching emphasizes project-based learning in garment construction, technical development, and creative direction. Tracy’s research focuses on sustainable fashion production, craftsmanship in modern fashion education, and the integration of traditional making techniques in contemporary curricula.

Dr. Kleanthis Neokleous

Dr. Kleanthis Neokleous, is Research Associate Professor and has graduated from the University of Cyprus in June 2011, with a Doctorate in Computer Science and has a multi-disciplinary academic background in various fields including Virtual Reality and 3D graphics, Electronic Health (eHealth), Cognitive Psychology, Computational Neuroscience, Machine Learning, Intelligent Diagnostic Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Control Engineering and Space Science and Technology. He has several years of experience in project management and he was involved with the conception, design, preparation, writing and coordination of many National and EU research projects. During and after his PhD, Dr. Neokleous co-founded in parallel two innovative startup companies in Virtual Reality technologies and eHealth applications in line with his academic and research interests. Since June 2019, Dr. Neokleous is employed at the first Research Centre in Cyprus, focusing on Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging technologies, CYENS Centre of Excellence as a Multidisciplinary Research Group Leader.

Professor Alan Meades (VP)

I’ve worked at CCCU since 2002 and have run lots of different successful degrees, including Games Design, Graphic Design, Web Design, and written the undergrad and postgrad games courses, foundation year, and the postgraduate taught suite. I am currently Suite Lead for the Games, Graphics, and Photography. I have a degree in Interactive Arts, Master’s in Electronic Arts, a PhD in videogame communities, a PGCHELT, I’m a Senior Fellow of the HEA, and was nominated for an NTFS teaching excellence award in ’22.

I have considerable experience in QA and course development. I’m currently Director of Quality and Curriculum Development for SCA&I. I’ve held Examiner roles at Bournemouth, Manchester Metropolitan, UCLan Futureworks, Salford, and Leeds Beckett Universities. I help other universities with course development, review, and quality assurance.

In 2015, I published Understanding Counterplay in Video Games (Routledge), exploring motivations behind cheating and game-breaking on the Xbox 360. Since 2014, my research has focused on my childhood love of British arcade culture. I’ve rescued long-lost arcade games, interviewed arcade game designers, arcade owners, and industry veterans, and worked with SEGA and BACTA (the arcade industry trade body). I’ve delivered lectures about arcades around the world including Stanford University, New York University, The University of Malta, and institutions in Norway and Germany, and spoken on the subject at various international conferences.

All this arcade work has resulted in my latest book Arcade Britannia telling the social history of the British amusement arcade, published with MIT Press in October ‘22. I’m also working on a digital/VR recreation of 1980s amusement arcades, also called Arcade Britannia, that is due to be exhibited at London Design Bienalle 2023. I’m also Director of the Nic Costa Archive of arcade heritage, a fantastic collection donated by Nic Costa.

Professor Halim Choueiry (VP)

Professor Halim Choueiry is a design thinking strategist and advocate of creative learning. Besides his academic studies, and the various leading academic positions, he also served as IcoD—formally known as Icograda: the international council of graphic design associations—vice president for 6 years, which allowed him to delve into the world of design and gain a worldwide experience like no other.

In addition to design consultancy, halim co-created and contributed to Comma, a monthly Pan-Arab design publication within the realm of ArabAd, with various design focuses including creative economies and design policies. His dedication to bringing sustainable changes and how the design process can be at the core of life and living, lead him to contribute to the establishment and consultancy of Commune—a student based Lebanese NGO— serving as a platform for individual creative growth. Further down the road, Halim established hbr the first FabLab and creative platform in Lebanon, providing a self-sustaining place where design awareness and understanding of various disciplines and qualities are explored through collaboration between creative individuals, innovative events, activities, and products. Halim has won several national and international design competitions and featured work and design articles in various design and refereed publications. He also has extensive experience in judging student competitions and design/advertising awards. His involvement in international events includes conducting and presenting at design conferences, students’ workshops, and chairing Creative Nights—an interactive meet-up series held throughout the Arab countries.

Halim is currently investing his knowledge in developing a new learning system for creative and innovative minds.

Stephanos Christodoulides (Assist. P.)

Stephanos Christodoulides holds a BA degree in Interior Design from the Thames College, UK. and an MBA degree in Education Leadership and Management from the Canterbury Christ Church University, U.K. He joined the Alexander College faculty in 2002 as a Course Leader for the Interior Design department. He worked on the development and launch of different Interior Design programs in collaboration with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN), the University of Wales and the University of the West of England (UWE). He has also been an active member of the Academic Committee, the Administrative Committee and the Disciplinary Committee. Before joining Alexander College, Stefanos worked for several years for Interior Design firms in London and Cyprus. Since 2008, he has also worked as a Fine Art Auctioneer and Valuer with Psatharis Auctions House Ltd. Stefanos has coordinated thirty-seven referred publications related to Fine Art auctions. He has been involved in a lengthy research about the art movement of “De Stijl” and its relationship with “Bauhaus”, the Russian “Suprematism” and the Russian “Constructivism”. He is an active member of the Constructivist Project. An international group of people trying to save and preserve Russian Constructivist Architecture in Moscow and other cities.

Forthcoming Publication: Italian Futurism 1909–1944: The Visualisation of Fascism. The Confrontation of Futurism by Greek Intellectuals, including 36 translations of Futurist manifestos and open letters. Currently in preparation for publication in Cyprus

Evangelos Evangelou (Lecturer)

Evangelos Evangelou obtained his BSc in Computer Science in Essex University and his MSc in Business Management from the University of the West of England. His main focus centers in the field of Information Systems and Security in the Business Environment. He gained professional experience in the field of information systems management working in the market and he also teaches in the accredited Business Administration and Finance programme of Alexander College. This combination of working and teaching experience, his participation in two research programmes of the Alexander Research Centre, and a student centered orientation can provide students with the appropriate insights during lectures and seminar-labs interaction.

Dr Fadi Al Halabi (Assoc. P.)

Dr Fadi Al Halabi holds a BENG in Computer & Communication Engineering from Notre-Dame University, Louaize, Zouk Mosbeh Beirut, Lebanon. Dr. Al Halabi completed his PhD in Optical Communication, the thesis focused on “Optical OFDM with Multiple Information-carrying Dimensions for Elastic Access Networks”. The awarding body is Bangor University, Wales, UK. During his PhD dissertation research, he has generated 8 research papers, of which 6 have been published in world-leading professional journals and 2 presented in major international conferences. He is the executive manager at Alexander College. The position requires overseeing the college’s developmental, strategic and financial decisions, establishing department goals and budgets. Implement policies and procedures, managing contracts and negotiations and handling personnel decisions.

Dr Pavlos Evangelides (Assist. P.)

Dr Pavlos Evangelides has completed his studies at the University of Aegean (BS Honors in Electrical engineering), University of Bradford (PhD in Electrical Engineering). He is currently a special scientist teaching digital logic and design at the University of Cyprus. His research interests are on the general theory of quantum computing and quantum algorithms. His research accomplishments also include a number of publications in journals.

Dr. Theofanis I. Aravanis (VP)

Dr. Theofanis I. Aravanis was born in Patras, Greece in 1988. He received the Dipl. Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece (2012), the M.Sc. Degree in Energy and Power Management from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece (2014), and the M.B.A. Degree from the University of Patras, Greece (2016). In 2019, he obtained the Ph.D. Degree in Logic-Based Artificial Intelligence from the University of Patras, Greece. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of the Peloponnese, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the same University. His research interests include Belief Revision, Logic Programming, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, and the application of Artificial-Intelligence methods in Electrical Power Systems.

Giorgos Nicou (Lecturer)

Giorgos Nicou has a degree in MSC Data Analytics and BSc in Computing with specialization in game development, both obtained from University of Central Lancashire Cyprus (UCLan Cyprus). His MSC thesis project was Code Adventure, an educational game that teaches introductory programming, he has two publications based on Code Adventure. He has participated in various computer science competitions and he has won second and third place. In the first science festival of Uclan Cyprus was an instructor at a virtual reality station and judged in two robotics competitions. He has expert knowledge in Unity, C++ and C# and advance knowledge on SQL, JAVA, python and HLSL.

Dr George Matheou (Assoc. Lecturer)

Dr George Matheou was a special scientist/researcher, teaching assistant and PhD in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus (Computer Systems and Networks Direction) in 2011 and his MSc studies in 2013 (GPA 9.14/10-first department award) from the same institute. His current research interests are in Parallel Computing, Distributed Systems, FPGA programming and Computer Architecture with emphasis on Data-Flow systems. George Matheou has participated in two European research projects, the TERAFLUX FP7 project and the Long Lasting Memories project. He is the publicity chair in the International Workshop on Data-Flow Models for Extreme-Scale Computing (DFM) and has published several papers in the areas of Data-Driven/Data-Flow computing and e-health systems.

Andreas Ayre (Assist. P.)

Andreas Ayre is teaching in the BA Photography Programme of the University of the West of England at Alexander College. He has studied Computing and Information Systems (BSc) and Advanced Computer Science (Information Systems) at an MSc level. He has had a long teaching career since 1997. Subjects taught include: Computing for Business, Computer Fundamentals, Information Systems Management, Software Engineering, Systems Analysis & Design, Human Computer Interaction, Microsoft Office Application set, Computer Networks & Communications, IT Services, E-commerce, and Study skills, photography, digital imaging, film and print development, Photoshop for photographers. He is a CISCO trainer.

George Gavriel (Assoc. Lecturer)

George Gavriel graduated from the University of Piraeus and holds the Industry Technology Education and Digital Systems degree and master degree in MSc Business Management (University of the West of England, UK). He teaches Informatics and a specific course of C and Pascal programming language in the last ten years in Private Secondary Education Schools Approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture. He is equipped with additional work experience in educational management units and in writing books on their computers which is a qualification as to the education and organization of a department with students. He has been the Chairman of the Cyprus Association of Private Institutes since 2010.

Alexandros Androus-Mitsis (Assoc. Lecturer)

Alexandros Androus-Mitsis has varied work experience in the video game industry. Alexandros is currently the Founder and CEO of Heirs of Argo Design & Development Limited, an outsourcing company providing expertise to the video game industry. Alexander has been teaching Game Design at Alexander College since September 2020 with some breaks. Alexandros also has extensive experience in Wargaming, where he held various roles as a Narrative Designer, wrote extensive documentation, and created templates and rulesets for use by authors. Alexandros also served as a Game and Systems Designer, focusing on the potential of VR technology and educational gamification processes. Alexandros holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Computer Games Design: Story Development (University of East London).

Anna Chrysaphi (Assist. P.)

Anna Chrysaphi is the course leader of BSc Hospitality Management and the Director of the HRDA training Center which she initiated and established at the college. She has completed her BA in Business Administration at Philips College and did her MSc in Entrepreneurial Studies at University of Stirling followed by the Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma and has completed MBA in Education Leadership (CCCU) Her interest is shared between the Small Businesses and Marketing. She has been teaching, coaching, coordinating and leading teams through her work at the college, the advertising agency and her family private company. She has been a member of various accreditation committees at the college and participated in the activities of the Research Centre throughout the years. She is currently involved in researching education topics.

Dr Kostas Vrachimis (Assist. P.)

Dr Kostas Vrachimis during his studentship at the University of Cyprus, he obtained a BSc in Mathematics & Statistics, an MSc in Economic Research and a PhD in Economics. He teaches on a variety of economic and management subjects in both undergraduate and postgraduate Business programs. His primary area of research interest is in the area of gender and employment and has published a number of collaborative journal articles and conference papers in these areas.

Elena Vlasiou (Lecturer)

Elena Vlasiou, earned her BA in English language and Literature in 2002 (University of Cyprus) and her MA in Literacy and Language in Education in 2005 (The University of Sheffield) and has been an English teacher. She has also worked at private and state schools as substitute teacher to all age groups and levels. During her career, she has been preparing students for international exams recognized by Ofqual and within the structures and guidelines of CEFR. Preparation and teaching include all four skills, namely reading, writing, listening and speaking. Since 2008, she has been an accredited oral examiner for the IGCSE English as a Second Language exam and since 2023 an accredited interlocutor of LanguageCert for levels A1- C2 according to CEFR. She was also the Head English teacher at private institutes, co-ordinating the syllabus, deciding on the material used and monitoring fellow English teachers. She has participated in the design and development of the English Foundation programme delivered by the Alexander College and accredited by the CYQAA.

Koulla Savva (Lecturer)

Koulla Savva has studied English Literature & Language at the University of Derby in the United Kingdom (2007- 2010). After completing her first degree she continued her studies following an MA programme in TEFL/TESL (2010- 2011) at the University of Birmingham. Furthermore, she is also an English-Speaking Examiner for young learners and throughout these years she has also attended several seminars and webinars regarding the language, learners, classroom, examinations such as IGCSE and IELTS and more. As for work experience, she used to work at a private institute called Eurognosi Larnaca full time (2011-2023) teaching English to young and old learners (YLE, KET, PET, FCE, IGCSE and IELTS). In 2014 she also collaborated with the MKC City College in Larnaca for a few months where she used to teach English to undergraduate students. Now, she is working at Alexander College teaching English language to undergraduate students.

Savvinos Andreou (Assoc. Lecturer)

Savvinos Andreou completed his MBA at Canterbury Christ Church University. He has a degree in BSc Computer Science with Gaming Development, obtained from Alexander College. His BSc thesis project was Puzzles of Logic, an educational game that aims to enhance problem-solving skills, cognitive strategies, and pattern recognition, which was published by the Alexander College Research and Academia Bulletin. He has participated as a member of the Alexander College team and secured 1st place in the Hack4Society Hackathon Event. He has advanced knowledge on Unity, C# and intermediate level at C++ and Java.

Dr Leandros Savvides (Assist. P.)

Dr Leandros Savvides is the coordinator of the MBA Programme and the BSc (Hon) Business Management (CCCU). His studies include a BA in Sociology/International Politics (MMU), MA in Social and Political Thought (University of Sussex) and Ph.D. in Critical Management Studies, Leicester, 2019. He has ten years of teaching and research experience in higher education institutions, in the UK and Cyprus. Aside from his academic work experience and qualifications, he has extensive experience working with civil society organizations and has participated in numerous research and advocacy projects. His primary research interests are organization studies, science and technology, media and cultural studies, the emergence of citizen science, and digital humanities. He is the author of several book chapters in edited volumes, whilst also preparing peer-reviewed papers. His book “3D Printing Cultures, Politics, and Hackerspaces” (2021, Emerald Publishing Ltd) is an ethnographic study that examines the bourgeoning 3D printing culture outside the professional lab in Hackerspaces, Makerspaces, and Fab Labs. His latest work is an ongoing investigation of digitally mediated memories of significant historical periods and events, and the integration of artificial intelligence in the journalistic profession.

Dr Adonis Frangeskou

Dr Adonis Frangeskou is the acting Dean of the Faculty of Business & Law at Alexander College, and Leader of the MBA International program currently franchised by the College from Canterbury Christ Church University, UK (CCCU). He has undergraduate degrees in Sociology and Legal Philosophy, as well as an MA in International Relations and a PhD in Continental Philosophy. Since 2001 he has taught Continental Philosophy at Staffordshire University, UK, and on numerous franchised degree programs for Alexander College, including Business Management, Tourism and Events Management (CCCU), and Criminology (UWE). His primary research interests are located at the interdisciplinary and post-interdisciplinary crossroads of Philosophy and Tourism. He has published various articles and a book length monograph on the ontological problem of time and is currently working on a second book that seeks to integrate his philosophical researches into the development of a touristic ontology. He is also an Executive Member of the British Society for Phenomenology.

Dr Costas Christodoulides (Assist. P.)

Dr Costas Christodoulides holds a BA in Political Science and International Studies (Panteion Univ.), MSc in Comparative Politics (LSE) and completed his PhD in Business Administration (EUC). He is the Alexander Research Centre director and Internal Quality Assurance manager. His research interests involve Economic Monetary Union socio-economic disparities among core and periphery countries, social protection and welfare. He has a special interest in investigating socio-economic factors influencing development and micro businesses survival in the EMU. He has contributed or coordinated many externally funded projects at Alexander College and has published in journals and presented at Conferences under double blind peer review process. He has reviewed papers the Socioeconomic Review, the Applied Business and Economics Journal and for the Journal of Technology in Behavioral Science.

Dr Sotiris Themistokleous (Lecturer)

Dr Sotiris Themistokleous is leading the Innovation &Entrepreneurship Pathway of the Alexander College MBA. He is the Director of Strategic Development of the Center for Social Innovation (CSI). Sotiris is coordinating the grants and tenders’ preparations, applications, and fundraising services of the organization, and his team is coordinating the overall networking and outreach activities of CSI. The CSI is awarded projects from a wide range of Global, European, and International funding agencies such as Horizon Europe, ERASMUS+, EuropeAid, Lifelong Learning Programs, EU Home Affairs, Research Promotion Foundation, United Nations Development Program, and other public and private agencies, of a total value of more than 60 million euros. He has been involved in more than 200 programs and initiatives on social innovation, education, social justice and empowerment, vocational training, lifelong learning, and civic participation as Team Leader and Researcher. He has published articles and book chapters and presented a series of papers at international conferences on Social Innovation, Social Entrepreneurship, Education, Sustainable Development, Democratization, Diversity Management, Migration, and Civil Society. Sotiris holds a BA in International Relations and Diplomacy from the American College of Thessaloniki, an MSc in Global Politics from Birkbeck College, University of London, and a PhD in Education from the University of Nicosia.

Nikolas Defteras (Lecturer)

Nikolas Defteras is a lecturer for the Department of Business Management of CCCU and a member of the Alexander Research Centre. He earned his BA in Philosophy and Political Science from California State University, Long Beach and his Masters in Ideology and Discourse Analysis at the University of Essex’s Department of Government. He has engaged in doctoral research for the Vrije Universiteit Brussels. He has an MBA from the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Cyprus. His main research interests include but are not limited to Leadership, HRM and labour related issues in SMEs; media and communication technologies’ effects on the psychological states and behavioural dispositions of people and youth and in particular. Moreover, he is interested in the research of social phenomena of nationalism, racism and sexism in relation to their functionality in contemporary society and market. He has worked in a variety of research programs operated by institutions, local and international, in subjects related to Sex Trafficking as well as the permeation of market values in social relations.

Dr Yiannis Hadjipetrou (Lecturer)

Vassos Koutsioundas (Lecturer)

Vassos Koutsioundas Vassos holds a BA (with Hons) in Industrial Economics from the University of Nottingham in the UK. He is also a qualified accountant, member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and holds the advanced diploma of CySEC. He earned his PhD (Management) on “good governance in sport organisations”. He is the Head of Finance of the semi-governmental Cyprus Sports Organisation. His research interest is centred round integrity in sports. He has managed and or participated in numerous Erasmus + funded projects in the area of sports and he has chaired the EU working party on Sports during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2012.

Sophocles Ioulianou (Assist. P.)

Sophocles Ioulianou is leading the MBA Public Procurement Specialisation. He was the Manager/Administrator of the Tenders Review Authority (TRA) since 2005 and currently the Head of Finance for the Cyprus Parliament. Dr. Chrystalla Markou co-leads the BSc Hospitality Management at Alexander College Cyprus in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University of UK. Dr. Markou is approved online MBA teaching faculty at University of East of London, Liverpool John Moores University, and SUFFOLK university in collaboration with UNICAF organization. Dr. Markou is accredited moderator for SUFFOLK university and second marker for University of East of London and Liverpool John Moores University. Dr. Markou Holds a PhD in Business Administration from Northcentral University of San Diego, California. Worked in private institutions of tertiary education in Cyprus. Her research area concentrates around general business management and marketing tactics in the hospitality industry. Usama A. K. Alabed (Assoc. Lecturer)

Usama A. K. Alabed holds a PhD in Business Administration ( European University, Cyprus). He gained his BSc in Civil Engineering in Watford and MSc in Engineering Projects Management in Tripoli, whilst he holds a postgraduate diploma in the same field. He permanently resides in Cyprus since 2005. He has professional international experience in leading projects (Italy, Spain etc). He has been teaching Project Management, Management and Consultancy at an MBA and undergraduate level.

Dr Maria Ioannou (Assist. P.)

Dr Maria Ioannou has studied law (LLB) in Sheffield University, and has an MA in International Studies from the same University. She also has a BA in English from the University of London, which she did externally, while working as a lecturer in Cyprus. Then she moved to the UK and was awarded her doctorate in 2009, for her interdisciplinary thesis on 19th century gender cultural, legal and literary construction(s). As a result, she is a specialist on human rights, just administration of the law and equality, and has taught subjects on human rights, gender equality, international law and legal philosophy. At the same time, she has also taught in more applied areas of law, like contracts, international sales contracts and international sales law. Her research interests include the history and philosophy of law and how narrative intersects with ideas of legal reform, justice and equality. Ioannou has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, on issues ranging from marriage and divorce to equality and law reform. She is the author of many books.

Dr Gregoris Demetriou (Lecturer)

Dr Gregoris Demetriou has worked for 41 years in the Training Division of the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus (HRDA) from where he retired at the position of Deputy Director of Training Services in August 2023. Since 2019 he is a Scientific Collaborator of European University Cyprus and currently of Alexander College. Gregoris served for 4 years till August 2023 on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes (https://idep.org.cy/poioi-eimaste/) which is the National Authority for the Erasmus+ Programme. Since 2007 he serves as Board member and Secretary of the non-governmental organisation Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative-CSTI (https://csti-cyprus.org/about-us/who-we-are/). Athina Sophocleous (Lecturer)

Athina Sophocleous Council of Europe while she was practicing as a self-employed registered lawyer. She has extensive academic experience as a Senior Lecturer and former LLM Coordinator at UK and Cypriot universities, teaching Public International Law, Banking Law, Business Law, and Ethics, and supervising postgraduate theses. Andreas Papacharalambous (Lecturer)

Andreas Papacharalambous has studied law (LLB) at the University of Leicester where he obtained an LL.B. with honours and subsequently the postgraduate title LL.M. in International Economic Law from the University of Warwick with Distinction. His Masters’ degree dissertation focused on the company’s right to transfer its ‘real corporate seat’ from one Member State in the European Union to another under EU law. He was admitted to Cyprus Bar Association in 2004. He is also an ADR Group Accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator and a registered member of the Mediators of the Ministry of Justice in Cyprus. Furthermore, he is a lecturer of Tort law and EU law at Alexander College of Cyprus in collaboration with Canterbury Christ Church University of U.K. He is a practising litigant, focusing in civil disputes and having gained extensive expertise in many areas of commercial and corporate practice. He has also been actively involved in tort cases including personal injury and accident claims, banking disputes and multiple breaches of contract as well as property law cases. He is also acting as the Legal Adviser of Local Authorities in Paphos District and advises on public law and litigation matters.

Xenia Artemi (Lecturer)

Xenia Artemi is a qualified lawyer and lecturer, registered with the Cyprus Bar Association since 2018. She holds an LLB in Law from the University of the West of England, Bristol, and an LLM in International Commercial Law from the same institution. Since 2020, she has been lecturing in Law at Alexander College, in collaboration with Canterbury Christ Church University, teaching subjects including Intellectual Property Law, Family Law, Contract Law, and Law in Society.
