Course: BDes Graphics

Alexandros Delidis is a graphic design student with a strong interest in creating immersive and experience-driven design. His work focuses on combining visual identity, branding, and physical interaction to build engaging and memorable concepts that go beyond traditional design outcomes.

He is particularly drawn to retro and nostalgic aesthetics, exploring how past visual cultures can be reinterpreted in a contemporary context. Through his work, he aims to evoke emotion, familiarity, and connection, using design as a tool to bring people together through shared experiences.

Alex’s approach to design is concept-led and detail-oriented, with an emphasis on storytelling, consistency, and audience engagement. He enjoys working across both print and digital media, often extending his projects into physical applications such as merchandise, event materials, and interactive elements.

With a passion for branding, art direction, and creative direction, he aspires to develop projects that function as complete design systems, combining visuals, experiences, and identity into cohesive and impactful outcomes.

Final Research Project: Manamou re.tro

My final project explores the creation of a fully developed brand and event series titled manamou re.tro, which focuses on nostalgia, retro culture, and shared experiences. The project is built around the idea of transforming design into an immersive journey, where audiences engage not only visually but also physically and emotionally.

The concept is structured as a series of five seasonal events: a Vintage Market, Arcade Night, Vinyl Fair, Throwback Beach Party, and Outdoor Cinema Night. Each event represents a different aspect of retro culture and is supported by a cohesive visual identity adapted to its theme and season.

The project includes a wide range of design outcomes such as posters, tickets, social media campaigns, and business cards, as well as interactive elements like collectible items, stickers, and pins. Each event also features unique physical components, such as multifunctional tickets and themed objects, designed to enhance user engagement and create memorable experiences.

A key focus of this project is my personal connection to nostalgia and retro culture. Nostalgia, for me, is both a comforting and complex emotion, it allows me, and many others, to revisit moments that felt simpler, happier, and more meaningful, even though those times are often difficult or impossible to return to.

Through this project, I aim to use design as a way to bring those feelings back into the present. By combining retro aesthetics with modern technology and contemporary design approaches, I create experiences that allow people to reconnect with the past in a delicate and engaging way. In doing so, the project highlights how design can remind us that while moments pass, the emotions connected to them can still be relived, reinterpreted, and shared.

Through this project, I explore how design can create not just visuals, but moments, emotions, and connections, turning events into lasting memories.
