Course Insight
The purpose of the program is to introduce students to the theories, technologies, and applications of the broader field of Computer Science, with a particular focus on game and application development. In addition to practical training, the program equips students with the ability to adapt and evolve in the ever-changing computing environment.
The program prepares graduates for employment as Computer Scientists and lays the foundation for postgraduate studies in the field.
Admission Criteria
- High school leaving certificate (six-year Secondary Education School) from the Republic of Cyprus.
- Good knowledge of the English language.
- Equivalent qualifications are assessed and verified by the Academic Committee, provided they are comparable to or equivalent to a secondary education leaving certificate.
Duration of Studies
The program is completed in 4 years of full-time study. The academic year starts around mid-October and lasts 28 weeks (14 weeks per semester).
Teaching
The program applies modern, student-centered teaching methods that enhance creativity, collaboration, and practical application of knowledge. Teaching takes place through lectures, labs, presentations, seminars, and assignments based on real-world industry scenarios. Students actively participate in game jams, industry-led hackathons, and interdisciplinary projects, while techniques such as the flipped classroom are applied for deeper interaction and understanding.
All courses are supported by digital platforms, providing access to educational material, guidance, and feedback from the teaching team.
Assessment Methods
Student assessment is based on a balanced approach combining theoretical understanding and practical application. It includes written exams, individual and group assignments, presentations, lab exercises, reports, and peer evaluations. Special emphasis is placed on project-based assessment, giving students the opportunity to create fully functional game prototypes and present their work to an audience and industry professionals.
The assessment methods are directly linked to each course’s learning outcomes and are designed to enhance the development of technical, creative, and professional skills.
Completion of Studies
Successful completion of the program requires 240 ECTS credits (30 per semester). The program consists of 31 compulsory courses, a final-year dissertation, and 2 elective courses.
