Course: BDes Graphics

Chrisdeaner Stella Sofocleous is a graduate student in Graphic Design with a strong interest in research-driven creative practice. Her work explores the relationship between visual communication, critical thinking, and contemporary design trends, with a focus on creating meaningful and effective design solutions. She is particularly interested in print design, illustration, and digital media, where she combines aesthetic awareness with thoughtful concept development. Chrisdeaner’s approach to design emphasizes clarity, visual storytelling, and the role of design in shaping user experience and communicating cultural narratives.

With an increasing focus on research as a foundation for design innovation, she aims to contribute to the field through both creative practice and academic exploration. Her long-term goal is to develop projects that connect theory with practical design work, while engaging audiences across both print and digital platforms.

Final Research Project: Interactive Teaching Methods in Graphic Design

My final project focuses on creativity in graphic design and explores the question of how designers can rediscover their imagination when they experience a creative block. The project takes the form of a digital booklet titled How to Get Back Your Creative Spark, which is designed to provide practical advice and inspiration for designers who feel stuck or unmotivated during the creative process. The booklet presents different strategies that can help designers reconnect with their creativity, such as taking strategic breaks, searching for inspiration outside of design, experimenting freely without pressure, changing their creative routine, collaborating with other creatives, and working on personal projects. Each section of the booklet is supported with clear design and visual storytelling to communicate the ideas in an engaging way.

Alongside the digital booklet, I also created a short 20–30 second Instagram reel to promote the message of the project. The reel visually presents the six creative strategies as individual scenes, starting with a moment of creative frustration and gradually showing how the designer regains motivation and inspiration. As a graphic design student, this project allowed me to combine research, storytelling, and visual communication in order to show that creative blocks are a normal part of the design process and that creativity can always be rediscovered through exploration, experimentation, and new perspectives.
