The evaluation of student performance is an integral part of the creative learning journey In line with Alexander College policy, both formative and summative evaluation methods are employed:

• Formative evaluation is used throughout the learning process and includes critiques, teacher and peer discussions, feedback sessions, and peer reviews. It supports development and does not contribute directly to final grades, but is essential in shaping reflective and informed creative practice
• Summative evaluation takes place at the end of a learning phase and measures whether a student has met the learning outcomes and academic standards of a module or specialisation. This includes graded submissions such as portfolios, essays, field work, presentations of work, exams and studio or industry or community -based projects.

Evaluation across all modules is governed by the programme and course specifications, ensuring fairness, consistency, and alignment with institutional and professional standards.

3. All students are entitled to equal treatment and fairness.
4. Credit accumulation and completion of prerequisites/co-requisites determine progression.
5. Evaluation reflects professional and industry-specific standards.
6. Different learning outcomes are assessed through appropriate methods.
7. Assessment criteria are published in advance and clarified by instructors.
8. Students are provided with multiple opportunities to demonstrate strengths.
9. Students are informed and consulted about evaluation methods and outcomes.
10. All assessment tools are fit for purpose and reflective of studio-based disciplines.
11. All evaluations are conducted by qualified and competent faculty in design.

Institutional Responsibilities

Alexander College is responsible for:

• Implementing student evaluation according to programme-specific regulations.
• Managing examinations and studio evaluations in accordance with college procedures.
• Publishing formal results that track student progression toward completion.
• Issuing final marks to students securely and confidentially.
• Investigating academic offences or irregularities under the direction of the Internal Quality Assurance Committee.
• Communicating timetables, instructions, submission deadlines, and requirements in accordance with institutional procedures.

Student Responsibilities

Students are expected to:

1. Read and follow all issued information regarding assessment tasks and evaluation requirements.
2. Attend all required assessments, critiques, presentations, and examinations.
3. Submit work on time and according to the correct format.
4. Uphold academic integrity and avoid any form of unfair advantage.
5. Check results as published by the College and seek feedback appropriately.
