In a very moving and spirited affair, over a hundred graduating students were awarded their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in all courses. The Alexander College 23rd annual graduation ceremony took place on the last Friday evening of June at ‘Ktima Mackenzy’ in Larnaca in front of friends, family members and various honoured guests.

The majestic scenery, inspired by ancient Greek history, was the theme for this year’s ceremonious event with gladiators posted in various locations of the grounds adding to the overall ancient Greek feel of the evening.

Leading up to the award presentation, the College Principal, Mr. Andy Loppas commenced with his opening speech setting a positive and encouraging tone. Further addresses were made by several guest speakers including the Ministry of Education and Culture representative, Mr. Andreas Papoullas, the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of the West of England, Mr Alex Gilkison and the Mayors of both Larnaca and Aradippou, Mr. Andreas Louroutziates and Mr. Evangelos Evangelides who covered the collaboration between Alexander College and the University of the West of England, the outstanding standard of education and the modern college premises. The speeches concluded with sincere wishes to the graduates of 2014 for a successful future.

Intervals were filled with live jazz music followed by the awarding of various degrees to graduates of Interior design, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Law, Landscape Architecture and Business Management.

The award ceremony continued with the presentation of the Alexander College Student of the Year Awards – a prestigious award given to one graduating student from each course for their outstanding performance. This was then followed by the opening of the annual Final Show, an Art and Design exhibition displaying students work from all creative courses and stages.
